Mastering Happiness & Overcoming Burnout: My Takeaways from an Epic Conversation I recently had the pleasure of chatting with my friend Phil Gerbyshak on this episode of Third Power Life Podcast, and let me tell you - it was an absolute blast! We dove deep into the topics of happiness, burnout, and finding joy in our lives. As I reflected on our conversation, I wanted to share some key takeaways that resonated with me. One of the most powerful moments came when we shared our gratitude practices, which involves taking 20-30 minutes each day to reflect on the things we're thankful for. I break it down into nine areas of life, including spiritual, mental, physical, and relationships. I was struck by how simple yet effective this practice can be in shifting our focus towards the good stuff in life. As Phil said, "Gratitude is like the absolute key to being happy and content." I've started incorporating a similar practice into my daily routine, focusing on three things I'm grateful for each day. Another highlight of our conversation was when we discussed burnout. Phil shared some valuable insights on how to identify when you're burning out, including trusting your gut, looking at your habits, and setting boundaries. He also emphasized the importance of energy management, time management, and surrounding yourself with a supportive social network. These tips resonated deeply with me, as I've been there myself - feeling overwhelmed, stressed, and burnt out. But it's never too late to make changes and prioritize our well-being. As we wrapped up our conversation, Phil shared some inspiring words on the importance of being brave enough to ask for help when we need it. As leaders, managers, or simply as individuals, we have the power to create a work environment that doesn't suck the life out of us. My mantra in the workplace is simple yet profound: "My primary job is to make sure that work does not suck."
